Nepenthes Peter D'Amato (Rooted Cutting)

N. ventricosa x lowii was first done in the early 1990s by Johannes Marabini. From this original batch of seedlings came this cultivar (among others), so clones of this cross have been around for many years, which is a testament to its ease of growth.
Named after the acclaimed carnivorous plant grower and author Peter D'Amato, this cultivar is a showstopper. Lower pitchers are stout and squat. They're so red they're almost black, with bristles under the lid and a ridged peristome. The upper pitchers are not as darkly colored as the lower pitchers when they first open, but they are very rigid and gourd-like. The interior is glossy red and slippery. The entire pitcher is shaped bulbous-shaped with a tight waist. This plant grows perfectly as a houseplant. After acclimating to its new home, 'Peter D'Amato' can produce pitchers that last up to 6 months!

Pitcher Size: Up to 8 inches.
Sunlight: Bright filtered to partial sun.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts dried sphagnum moss and perlite only.
Temperatures: Above 70°F during the day; 55°-70°F during the night. Always protect from frost.

The rooted cutting that I ordered came in perfect condition, as Jacob says "as if it came right out of the SNW greenhouse." It didn't have any ptichers (as expected) but it was clearly rooted and well-established. The PDA cutting seamlessly transitioned to it's new envoironment in my greenhouse and started pushing new growth a couple of weeks later. I can't wait to see this legendary hybrid start to put out pitchers. I highly recommend SNW Nepenthes cuttings to any collector looking to pick up well-established cuttings of some amazing species and hybrids!!
