This hybrid was our introduction to Sam Estes at Leilani Nepenthes Nursery. He created it in 2004, which was the first time anyone had bred Nepenthes merrilliana (female) and N. truncata (male) together. Caesar was the name applied to all seedlings of that cross, and in 2006, we were the sole distributor of the first several batches he released. Naturally, we kept one plant for ourselves! A fully grown specimen is an incredible sight. It has very thick, leathery leaves and fantastically large stout pitchers. But, you will need the space to see its full potential since its leaf span can easily get to 3 feet across. This plant is best grown in a heated greenhouse in which the night temperature doesn't fall below 65°F. Day temperatures should be in the 80s. Otherwise, if you're content with pitchers that don't get as large but still want to own a piece of history, a home environment with a sunny windowsill would be fine. (NOTE: If you purchased Pompey from us, you already have this plant. They were accidentally mislabeled and are really Caesar. Long story.)

I have never ordered any Nepenthes that I like better than yours. I like buying large, well grown plants, and your plants are exactly what I want. No other venders in the U.S. sells Nepenthes as perfect and healthy as yours. I'll be ordering some more next year. Thanks guys.
