Utricularia cornigera is regarded as an epiphytic bladderwort, so it's grown in a very airy mix of sphagnum moss and perlite. As with all bladderworts, its carnivorous activity is below the soil surface. Little bladder-like structures along the plant's roots capture teeny-tiny soil critters, such as nematodes. Bladderworts, however, produce some of the most gorgeous flowers you'll find among carnivorous plants. Every winter, we allow the medium to dry slightly to mimic the dry season during the winter months in its native habitat in Brazil. This triggers the plant to produce beautiful orchid-like flowers.
