This mix contains equal parts dried sphagnum moss and perlite.

All ingredients are guaranteed to be free of fertilizers and other contaminants that may harm carnivorous plants. Soil mix is shipped dried. Moisten thoroughly before using.  Use this mix for the following plants for the following tropical pitcher plants:

  • Brocchinia: Bromeliad
  • Cephalotus: Australian Pitcher
  • Heliamphora: Sun Pitcher
  • Nepenthes: SE Asian Pitcher

A gallon of soil will fill:

  • one 8-inch pot or
  • two 6-inch pots or
  • six 4-inch pots

    Best soil mix out there

    I have tried different soil mixes in the past and this one is simply the best. It is affordable and the sphagnum moss is really fresh. Moss from other sources required hours if not days to soak before being ready, but this mix sucked the water right in and I was ready to repot my Nepenthes within about half an hour. This is awesome stuff, and I swear my plant has grown bigger already, it loves the mix too!

    The soil mix turned out to be just what I needed to move my pitcher plant to a larger pot. The mix is holding and absorbing water well enough to stay just the right level of moist.

    I mix my own soil for all my sundews and all my North American plants, but when it came time to repot my ever-growing Nepenthes, I opted for 2 bags of pre-mixed soil. I found 1 bag was enough for 2 6-inch Fiskars pots I got at Lowes (with a little extra). second bag is awaiting more Nepenthes or future re-potting. Thanks for a great product!
