50% Medium Grade
This is the standard mix that is suitable for a wide variety of plants. It consists of 50% peat moss and 50% medium grade perlite. It's versatile with a wide range of plant and pot sizes.

60% Fine Grade
This mix contains 40% peat moss and 60% fine grade perlite. It's best used with small pots, such as 3-inch and 4-inch pots. It is also a good mix for growing plants in desert climates to regulate soil temperature.

All soil is guaranteed to be free of fertilizers and other contaminants that may harm carnivorous plants. One gallon of soil will fill:

  • two 6-inch pots or
  • six 4-inch pots or
  • twelve 3-inch pots

There is a limit of 6 gallons per order.  Multiple orders of soil will not be combined.

If you need large quantities, consider purchasing ingredients in bulk from your local garden center. You can also try Amazon or Greenhouse Megastore.

Below is a list of ingredients with recommended brands that are free of fertilizers and other contaminants. However, always check the package and avoid products that contain fertilizer.

Peat Moss: Black Gold, Espoma, Hoffman, Plant!T, Premier
Perlite: Black Gold, Espoma, Hoffman, Plant!T, Therm-O-Rock

    General Soil Mix, Gallon Bag

This mix is a great way to re-plant your plants from Sarracenia Northwest. This way, you don't have to buy all of the individual ingredients, and saves quite a bit of money buying it this way! Plus, Sarracenia Northwest has always been my go-to for carnivorous plants and their needs. Only rated 4 stars, because I believe there is always room for improvement, not that this company needs any, they are quite perfect! Customer service is top-notch and so are their plants. Each one I have ordered have arrived in beautiful condition and are thriving at my home. With each plant purchased, they included very detailed instructions on how to care for each plant, and if you have any further questions, the growers are always more than happy to help!

I bought two bags of this to go in a bog garden I was planning to do. It was the perfect amount of soil and provides the right qualities my carnivorous plants need to stay happy and healthy!

The only soil I'll trust with my carnivorous plants!

I always try to keep a stock of this in the house. The plants I get from SNW are always so healthy that they need a repot almost every year. They grow so vigorously.

If you're on the fence considering 60/40, just do it. You'll water more but your plants will appreciate it.
