S. leucophylla has a ruffled hood beautifully patterned with red veins against a brilliant white complexion, giving way to red and green further down the trap. The cultivar 'Tarnok' is unique among Sarracenia, bearing fantastic double-petaled flowers with whorls of overlapping sepals - like little red pinecones! Native to the narrow coastal regions of Alabama, 'Tarnok' is especially cold-hardy at our nursery in Oregon, unfazed by winter freezes. It is a fast and robust grower, forming dense masses of growth points which make for a breathtaking display. Unlike other forms of Sarracenia leucophylla that produce pitchers only in late summer, Tarnok will produce pitchers from mid spring to early fall. This plant was registered with the International Carnivorous Plant Society in 1993.

2nd Season Divisions
After dividing our mother plants in spring, we grow the divisions for a year before releasing them. You get a more vigorous plant with a healthier root system when compared to a recent division.

All outdoor perennials experience seasonal changes at our nursery in Oregon.
January-March: Plant is dormant with no pitchers.
April: Spring growth will appear by the end of the month.
May: Fully developed pitchers will gradually appear.
June-August: Full display of pitchers.
September: Plant produces its best pitchers of the season.
October: Dormancy begins. Fewer pitchers. No new growth until spring.
November-December: Plant is dormant. Browned pitchers are cut off.

    Leucophylla tarnok

One of the first leaves to come up is twisted and deformed at the top. I'm not sure why it is, it might not be anything serious, or it could be something I'm not doing right. ***RESPONSE BY SARRACENIA NORTHWEST: Sometimes the first pitcher of the season can be deformed as a result of weather fluctuations. We see that happen on a few plants at our nursery. When the weather stabilizes, the new growth will appear normal. Cut off the deformed pitcher after new pitchers emerge.

    Pitcher plants

Plants were packaged with incredible care. They are now thriving with two different sprouts on each. The only reason I did not give five stars was because I thought they were a little expensive for the size.

Colorful and full of new growth. I am doing everything that the instruction papers say to do. Plenty of insects outside for them to consume and watering them with fresh rain water from the bottom.

This was my first live plant purchase with this company. I have ordered from other places and always got burned so I was certain this time would be no different. What a wonderful surprise to find nice, big hardy plants. Packaged to perfection and delivered within the 3 day priority deadline. I could not be happier! My new plants are thriving!

I received 2 undivided plants with 6 pitchers in one pot that were shipped in perfect condition. after making a mid season re-pot, according to your directions on DVD, I noticed 5 mew pitchers had sprouted within a week. Planning to divide in early spring and hoping to get some double pleated flowers. I am very happy with my purchase and will be buying from you guys again.
