This plant is like Christmas in July! The intricate, dark-red veins of the S. rubra overlay the color and height of S. leucophylla, creating a breathtaking display. The pitchers are mostly red and white in the top half of the leaf, fading to nearly pure red halfway down. The lids are slightly scalloped, upturned, and white with red veining. The throat is wide and inflated near the top of the trap. The inside of the pitcher is lime green. Red gradually shifts to green in the lower parts of the exterior. The pitchers are also quite tall! Look for its best pitchers of the season from late summer until the first frost of fall.
