The single feature that sets this species apart from others is its demure beauty. P. elhersiae is miniature plant with pink leaves with a white border. The pointed ends on each leaf add another level of elegance. Like most Mexican butterworts, it will goes dormant in winter for 2-3 months as a way to deal with the dry season. When the rains return and daylight hours increase, it resumes normal growth.
