This plant was part of a open-pollinated breeding at Leilani Nepenthes Nursery. The actual parentage is unknown, though it is suspected to be Nepenthes boschiana x (spectabilis x veitchii). When we received the first batch from LNN, the hybrid had a wide range of colors and patterns. We kept two particular plants for our collection, a red form and an orange form (renamed Chant de Linos). The red form has sturdy pitchers adorned with red flecks against a light orange background. The peristome (or lip) has light reddish orange stripes against a dark red background. The leaves are leathery. Pitchers on an adult plant approach 12 inches.
Type of Plant: Tropical pitcher plant for indoor growing.
Pitcher Size: Up to 12 inches.
Sunlight: Bright filtered to partial sun.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts dried sphagnum moss and perlite only.
Temperatures: Above 70°F during the day; 55°-70°F during the night. Always protect from frost.
