Nepenthes Song of Melancholy, Clone A (Rooted Cutting)
This plant was part of a open-pollinated breeding at Leilani Nepenthes Nursery. The actual parentage is unknown, though it is suspected to be Nepenthes boschiana x (spectabilis x veitchii) based on records of what was in bloom at the nursery at the time. When we received the first batch from LNN, the hybrid had a wide range of colors and patterns. We kept two particular plants for our collection and acquired a third from another grower.
Clone A (formerly called "Song of Melancholy, Red") has sturdy pitchers adorned with red flecks against a light orange background. The peristome (or lip) has light reddish orange stripes against a dark red background. The leaves are leathery. Pitchers on an adult plant approach 12 inches.
Type of Plant: Tropical pitcher plant for indoor growing.
Pitcher Size: Up to 12 inches.
Sunlight: Bright filtered to partial sun.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts dried sphagnum moss and perlite only.

I have ordered several plants from Sarracenia Northwest over the two years and I have not been disappointed. The plants are very well shipped and always arrive in great condition! Once they arrive the plants acclimate very well and quickly to their new growing conditions despite the big change in humidity conditions. If I have questions, I always get a reply quickly! If you have never owned a carnivorous plant, get one from here their plants are hardy and ready for their new homes. Thank you again for providing me with great plants to grow!
