This species is best known for its flared, colorful peristome seen in the upper funnel-shaped pitchers. The lower pitchers resemble various forms of N. maxima. While seed-grown and tissue-cultured plants are sometimes available, it takes several years before the plant will produce upper pitchers. Getting an established rooted cutting from an adult plant in its vining stage will give you those upper pitchers in a matter of weeks, depending on your growing conditions. So far, all of our cuttings are producing only upper pitchers. Our clone is also female.
