This species is most noted for its bulbous, funnel-shaped upper pitchers. For the die-hard aficionado, finding a true species is extremely difficult, since many forms in circulation are actually backcrosses containing N. maxima, a close relative of N. eymae. Some seed-grown plants of pure species are making their way into cultivation via Europe, but even those seedlings are difficult to acquire and will take several years to confirm their identity, which is only done by examining their upper pitchers.

Clone B is a true species that originated from Exotica Plants in Australia many years ago. It has chartreuse leaves and pitchers. The rim (peristome) is adorned with red stripes. A splattering of red splotches lines the inside of the pitcher. Clone B is female and produces only upper pitchers.
