This plant is technically Nepenthes alata x ventricosa, affectionately called ventrata. In a batch of starter plants that we received (from Deroose nursery), a few had variegated leaves, a type of mutation in the distribution of pigments. The variegation, however, isn't complete since it doesn't extend into the pitchers, which would have made it a true variegated plant. Instead, the pitchers are red, just like the typical form. We've grown out this plant for several years, and we can safely say that the variegation is stable in all cuttings we've taken. As with most variegated Nepenthes, this plant grows slower than normal and requires warmer temperatures to form pitchers. Best for the experienced grower who wants something different.
