Nepenthes x Buttons

We acquired Buttons from Sam Estes of Leilani Nepenthes Nursery. We were originally concerned how it would perform as a houseplant since it is a complex hybrid involving N. thorelii, N. mirabilis, and N. maxima. Hybrids with mirabilis haven't always grew well in our highland greenhouse. Overall, however, we were pleased at how well it performed for us. Thank goodness for hybrid vigor! During spring and summer, this plant produces very lovely pitchers with subtle markings and colors. Despite that its parent plants can produce very large pitchers, pitchers on Buttons are demure in comparison. If you want a break from loud, attention-grabbing hybrid, Buttons might be one that will show you how sublime Nepenthes can be.
