Houseplants - Shaded Windowsill

Your windowsill has too much shade! For successful growing, your growing condition needs to be brighter. Carnivorous plants are high light plant, and lack of sufficient lighting is the most common cause of death. Even if you think the window is bright enough, the plants are always the final judge. Many carnivorous plants struggle in a shaded window.

Keep in mind that carnivorous plants are plants. They are not animals that survive on insects for energy. Insects are simply little packets of fertilizer. All plants, whether they are carnivorous or not, get their energy from sunlight. Without adequate sunlight, no amount of insects or fertilizer will save your plants.

Not to fear, you can still grow carnivorous plants in your home if you are willing to supplement with artificial lights.
