Southern Cross is a hybrid of Drosera anglica and Drosera tracyi. It was originally created by Australian grower Steve Clemesha and has proven to be a very unique plant! It features thin red leaves that curl around insects, a very unusual feature among dewthreads. Because of its anglica parentage, this hybrid has a short growing season. It emerges from dormancy in early spring and will often go dormant by late August to early September. If the summer heat is mild to moderate, you may enjoy this plant into September, but expect it to go dormant shortly after the summer heat peaks.
• Mature plant grown outdoors at our nursery in Oregon, USDA zone 8.
• Shipped in a 3-inch pot. Care info is provided.
• Plant may reach 3-4 inches during the growing season.

Photos illustrate summer growth. Appearance changes with the seasons at time of shipping.
January-March: Plant is dormant in a resting bud state.
April: Spring growth will appear by the end of the month.
May: More leaves appear, but not yet full size.
June-July: Full display of dewy leaves.
August: Plant slows down if summer is too hot.
September-October: Dormancy begins. Plant drops its leaves. Growth resumes in spring.
November-December: Plant is dormant in a resting bud state.
Type of Plant: Cold-hardy perennial for outdoor container growing.
Sunlight: Full sun, 6+ hours of direct sunlight, during the growing season.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less). Keep media wet.
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite. No garden soil, compost, or fertilizer.
Winter: Dormant. Mulch in USDA zones 6 or colder.

    Very cool hybrid. Looks great. Bit of a slow grower compared to my other varieties.

    This plant is amazing, came in great condition. Is growing very nicely outside. I will be looking to get more species of the sundew plant in the near future.
