This naturally occurring variety of Drosera capensis has very little, if any, red pigment. For most of the year, the tentacles are white. During the summer or in very bright sunny conditions, the tentacles become pink. When fully mature, plant can be 5 inches tall. As a cool-tropical species, this plant likes it sunny but cool. It may slow down significantly during the hottest parts of summer, but watch it take off again when the summer heat passes. Great for the first-time grower.

Type of Plant: Tropical plant for windowsill growing.
Size: 5 inches across when mature.
Sunlight: Partial sun. Avoid hot sunlight.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite only.
Temperatures: Tolerant of cool temperatures but always protect from frost.

The growth of this plant is very vigorous. Mild shade seems to suit it. The quality of the plant and packaging is excellent.

I received not one but TWO plants for this order. Both were large and in good health. Within a day or two of unpacking they were dewy and looked great.

    Deosera Spatulata

These so called little plants are growing larger than I had dreamed. One of the three is growing beyond the edges of my 3 inch pot and the other two are almost as large. Beside the width... they are growing height with lots of new growth. These are REAL BEAUTIES.

    Couldn't be easier!

Posted by Jeff L. on July 28, 2014

Just like the red leaf version, this plant seems unstoppable. I have a new flower stalk coming up, and can't wait for the weeds!! These plants are fun, and very fast growing.
