"Small, yet mighty" is a befitting description of this compact sundew. An adult plant is no more than an inch across, but it's still powerful enough to capture small houseflies. Various forms of this sundew exist. We carry a form with red margins. It grows slower and somewhat smaller than the all green form, but it's the form we prefer at the nursery.

This species was once thought of as an annual, mostly because it dies off in winter in the wild. In cultivation, the plant can live for a few years. Grow this plant in a very sunny, warm location. In summer, you may grow it outdoors, but bring it indoors before the frost of fall. The plant will self-propagate with seeds.

Natural Habitat:
Australia and Asia
Type of Plant:
Tropical perennial
Size of Adult Plants:

Less than an inch across.
Small, yet mighty.
Your plant will be shipped potted in a 3-inch pot. It will reach flowering maturity within one growing season.

Make sure to watch this month's video podcast for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year.
Full sun, 6 or more hours of direct sunlight.
Use low mineral water. Keep the soil wet by setting the plant in a dish of standing water.
Cold Tolerance:
A true tropical plant. Protect from frost.

Very happy with the plant and the delivery. It's already getting the red edging. I did have to build a cage for it, to protect it from bird attacks. Twice they plucked it out of the medium and dropped it in the pan of water it sat in.

So far, Drosera burmannii has acclimated to my growing conditions. I intend to purchase other Drosera. Since I've had very good luck with your plants, a products list with tentative availability would be very helpful. (I haven't had as much luck with other nurseries, especially when shipping bare-root.)
