Dionaea muscipula Red Dragon Flytrap
This flytrap features red leaves and traps. Young plants are bright red throughout. As the plant matures, it turns maroon with a green margin along the edge of the traps. Despite its attractive red leaves, this particular variety is temperamental. It dislikes root disturbance, and it dislikes excessive heat. (Other varieties of flytraps are much more resilient.) In winter, it will also drop all of its leaves, leaving nothing to show. The Red Dragon Flytrap is best for growers who have experience growing the more typical variety.
Type of Plant: Outdoor perennial for container growing.
Height: Up to 4 inches at maturity.
Sunlight: Full sun during the growing season. (The Red Dragon Flytrap likes full sun but dislikes excessive heat. So it's most suitable to regions with sunny yet moderate summers.)
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite only.
Winter: Dormant. Minimal protection in USDA zones 7-9. Mulch in colder regions.

Is dying as fast as it is growing
I have followed all growing instructions, and its environment is stable - can't figure it out! Every time it grows a leaf, another dies. *** RESPONSE BY SARRACENIA NORTHWEST *** We're always here to help you! I checked my messages, and I didn't see any from you. There are several factors that affect a plant's health, and without knowing how you have been caring for the plant, I can't diagnose the problem. If you have your plant indoors, this might be the reason for the symptoms you're seeing in your plant. Lack of sufficient sunlight is the number 1 reason for flytrap death. Make sure to grow your plant outdoors in full sun, 6 or more hours of unobstructed sunlight. If you need further assistance, visit the Carnivorous Plant Help page. You can find the link at the bottom of this page.

Beautiful red form Flytrap
I got the plant when it literally just starts to get out of dormancy where the plant has 4 traps that are pretty big. I repotted it into a larger pot and it's very happy nowadays.
