Is this normal?
I ordered a four-pack of various flytraps not long ago. When I received them, all were dormant. Now that time went by, this is the only one that seems to not grow but it does look alive though (dark maroon color - darker than the picture shows). I don't know what is happening with it. The other three flytraps are looking green and vibrant. All of these are outside and in distilled water. I have given this flytrap an average score because it is not vibrant like the other three flytraps are. Is there a different type of care for the DIONAEA MUSCIPULA RED DRAGON FLYTRAP? The other three flytraps get a perfect score! *** RESPONSE BY SARRACENIA NORTHWEST *** Thank you for your purchase. I'm glad that the flytraps are growing well for you. I'm not sure what you mean that it seems not to grow. Based on your description, it sounds like it is alive. Red Dragon will often be dark red when grown in full sun. They are not supposed to be green. Without seeing the plant or knowing your actual growing conditions, I can't comment more about it. We would be glad to assist you. Please submit your question to Ask The Growers. You can also upload up to three photos.
