Q/A #96 - Smart Water® Isn't So Smart to Use on Flytrap

QUESTION:
Can I use the brand "Smart Water" to water my Venus flytraps? I will use rain to water them but there has been no rain recently. It says Smart Water is distilled but there are electrolytes added for taste. Is this safe to use on my flytraps?

RESPONSE BY JEFF DALLAS:

Short answer to your question, no. You don't want any added minerals to the water. Use distilled water, rainwater, or water purified by reverse osmosis with no added minerals. Besides, Smart Water is a bit expensive. Purchase pure distilled water instead.
