Sarracenia rubra wherryi

Sarracenia rubra wherryi has a thin layer of fuzz on the upper portions of the red-orange foliage, along with a rounded lid and a striking yellow-green lip. On large plants, multitudes of nodding red flowers in mid to late spring make this one show-stopping - they smell like miniature roses! This is a late season plant, which means it produces its most robust traps in late summer, right after when the heat peaks.  While most other forms retain some leaves in winter, this one will drop them completely.

The plant had a firm rhizome crowded with leaf buds. A week into May, and it still seems to sulk. But I've grown this plant before, and I expect it to be pretty tough.

    Local species

    S. rubra wherryi arrived in great shape. In fact, it is late October and it still looks great! I like this species because I have seen similar looking S. rubra near my house, so I hope the climate is great.

The pitcher plant was shipped perfectly, as always. It also had a threadleaf sundew as a stowaway...the first time I have a filiformis as an "extra" plant!

Already made a review on this plant a while back, It is a real beauty like the rest of SNW plants. At their prices, all the plants are GREAT DEALS... when I compare the plants and prices to other dealers that I dealt with in the past before I found SNW.
