Sarracenia alata Red Hood

$34.95

Botanically known as S. alata var. rubrioperculata, this plant has pointed hoods with a dark red interior. In spring, it stands out with its bright yellow-green pitchers with thin red veins. In late summer, it produces a second set of pitchers that are larger and darker with heavier veining. And guess what? This plant feasts on lots of yellow jackets at our nursery!

Best Nursery

Posted by Dameon Moore on June 6, 2025

I ordered from a handful of popular nurseries, all around the same time with about the same budget. This nursery not only processed and shipped my order the fastest, but also sent some of the biggest and healthiest looking plants. 5/5 Highly recommend.

Doing Great!

Posted by Chris M on February 27, 2025

Bought during the dormancy sale, got 4 good sized rhizomes that I planted up right away. It’s been a few weeks since then and 3/4 are actually shooting up flower stalks right now. They appear to be healthy and growing in well. I can’t wait for the pitchers to start growing in.

Red hood Sarracenia

Posted by Lynda Harrington on July 31, 2024

It’s my first time trying to grow a carnivorous plant and so far I’m very happy. It’s already grown some new pitchers and the colors are beautiful! I already want to try some more. Well worth the price!

S. alata red hood

Posted by Cole on July 8, 2024

This is one of my favorite carnivorous plants I own, and it is by far the best eater! Within a couple weeks every pitcher was full to the top, and us been consistently putting up more pitchers. Packaging and shipping was excellent. I would highly recommend SNW and the alata red hood.
