Deroose Alata is an excellent plant for the beginner. It's easy to grow, and you really have to go out of your way to kill it. Pitchers are durable and beautifully pink-red. On larger plants, pitchers can be 6 inches tall. This plant also grows quicker than other types of Nepenthes. You can end up with a long vine in just a few months, which makes this plant one of the most rewarding carnivorous plants to grow. Many garden centers mistakenly label this plant as Nepenthes Alata. However, it is actually a hybrid, Nepenthes alata x ventricosa.

Type of Plant: Tropical pitcher plant for indoor growing.
Pitcher Size: Up to 6 inches.
Sunlight: Bright filtered to partial sun.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts dried sphagnum moss and perlite only.
Temperatures: Above 70°F during the day; 55°-70°F during the night. Always protect from frost.

    This is my first ever nepenthes and I really do think I chose the perfect one to start with! First off, let me just say that this girl arrived in perfect health, and I was shocked to see the plant's size/number of pitchers. Just absolutely gorgeous and worth more than I paid, honestly, especially considering how safely it was packaged. Even after bouncing around in the mail system and getting repotted just a few days after delivery, this nep only had one leaf yellow. There was no fussy behavior or any of the dramatics I've heard so much about! Just a very well established beauty that keeps chugging along!

    I received the plant and think it was very well pkged. The sizing of the plants were better than I expected. This is a great company and have wonderful customer service. The coloring on the plants were very vibrant and healthy looking. Im looking forward to seeing them grow!

    I bought one of these about a month ago and it came in great shape and good packaging. Now it is making a pitcher twice the size as the original ones when I got it. I would definitely purchase more in the future.

    I bought two of these in a BOGO deal in January (9 months ago). They were beautiful when they arrived and are spectacular now. I have them in a south-facing window, kept them in the pots they arrived in. I give them water filtered with a Zero Water filter (0 PPM) and one osmocote 14-14-14 pellet per plant every other week. For the osmocote, even if the plant has severa pitchers (and they both do), only one pitcher gets a pellet. Both plants are producing much larger leaves and traps now. These are my first Nepenthes, highly recommended.

    I took advantage of the BOGO N. Deroose Alata. The plants came already potted so there wasn’t transplant shock and they were in perfect condition. They are already putting out new pitchers. I’m very happy with my purchase.

    Plant arrived in great shape; plant in great health; good healthy sized pitchers; plant seems to be acclimating well to my house as it has new growth as of 5/1/23 since arrival.
