Feist Dog Hybrid - Leucophylla Features
My plant arrived very quickly and was well packaged. I don't think it could have been in any better shape if I'd picked it up in person. The specimen itself was very robust with a thick crown and a couple of new growth points already. It had three large (14" tall) pitchers open, with one developing pitcher on the way up. The pitchers on my Feist Dog are predominantly green with white speckling around the mouth and hood, and some burgundy veining and splotches inside the hood. The pitcher and mouth shape look very much like Sarracenia leucophylla, but the hood takes on a more upward attitude, and is less wavy. I moved my plant into a much larger pot right away so it would be less vulnerable to cat attacks and have a larger water reservoir. The pitcher that was developing during shipping became stunted for some reason, and never finished developing. That didn't prevent my plant from producing three more gorgeous new pitchers in the month since I re-potted it. Two of them have opened nicely at the time of this review, with more on the way. The newest pitchers lack the burgundy coloration that is present on the original pitchers, but I admittedly have the plant receiving only 4-5 hours of direct sun. Overall, I was very happy to round out my monthly giveaway prize selection with this vigorous Sarracenia leucophylla stand-in.
