A fully grown Drosera tracyi is a truly impressive plant. In the right conditions, it forms a tight clump with leaves approaching 20 inches. While its leaves may not curl around insects like other sundews, it has a great appetite for flies of all sizes. It's almost like having renewable flypaper. In winter, the leaves will die back, and the plant will form a resting bud sitting at soil level. Growth will resume in mid-spring.

Type of Plant: Outdoor perennial for container growing.
Leaves: Up to XX inches at maturity.
Sunlight: Partial to full sun during the growing season.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite only.
Winter: Dormant. Minimal protection in USDA zones 7-9. Mulch in colder regions.

This plant arrived in good condition. It was smaller than expected, but is growing. Leaves are now about 4 inches tall. I moved the outside recently and am looking forward to see it catch a meal.

    Poor

Posted by Christopher OLeary on May 22, 2017

Not doing well at all it seems to be dying have it in a mineral free bog with other carniverious plants which are doing good, but this one not thriving at all. ***RESPONSE BY SARRACENIA NORTHWEST: Thank you for your recent purchase. You may not be aware of it, but we guarantee all of our plants for 30 days. We are also available to assist growers if they see their plants falter. It's likely that the plant experienced significant root disturbance during transplanting into your bog. This plant, and other hardy sundews, don't like root disturbance during the growing season. Even though we're outside of the 30 day period, we'll send you a new plant. Make sure to keep the soil intact around the roots if you're transplanting it. Otherwise, keep it in the pot until the end of the growing season and transplant it when its dormant.

    Drosera Tracyi: Awesome!

Posted by Gregory on May 14, 2017

I waited a little bit to write this review to see how the Drosera would react to a different climate zone (9B in the Bay Area) and it seems to be doing quite well! The nice part about it is that got not one but two small Drosera Tracyi instead of one! Shipping was timely as always and very carefully packaged as well. I will be sure to post updates on the plant as it continues to grow up.
