Drosera rotundifolia

This is the most common sundew in the world, which grows in North America, Asia and Europe. Yet, it's uncommon in cultivation. You won't find it at your local hardware store, like the Venus flytrap. You'll usually find it sold through specialty nurseries because Drosera rotundifolia can be tricky to grow. It prefers bright, cool conditions. It slows down dramatically when the weather gets hot. Cool nights will make this plant happy. Grow it in a slightly sheltered location, such as at the base of a Sarracenia. Make sure the soil is well aerated and moist. In winter, its leaves will die back, and the plant will form a resting bud sitting at soil level. Growth will resume in mid-spring.

Type of Plant: Outdoor perennial for container growing.
Leaves: Up to 3 inches at maturity.
Sunlight: Dappled to partial sun during the growing season.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite only.
Winter: Dormant. Minimal protection in USDA zones 7-9. Mulch in colder regions.

These Sundews really stand out among my other plants. They strongly draw your attention to themselves among the other plants.

    Great plants

Large, healthy specimen with multiple new seedlings emerging. Example was beginning to flower as well. Of particular note is the media of live moss which is where rotundifolia grow best in the wild. Plant is growing very nicely in the media. Rotundifolia can be rare or not nearly as large or well grown from other commercial CP retailers.
