This sundew is one of the most beautiful sundews in our collection. It has long, thick dew leaves with graceful undulations. In very bright sunlight, its leaves turn crimson red. In regular household lighting, its leaves turn bright pink with a delicate splatter of green towards the center of the plant. As the plant matures, it forms a dense cluster that is very eye-catching. As a mountainous plant (Brazil), this species prefers mild temperatures. In cultivation, it grows quickly in winter and slows down in summer.

Type of Plant: Tropical plant for windowsill growing.
Size: 4 inches across when mature.
Sunlight: Dappled sun. Avoid hot sunlight.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite only.
Temperatures: Tolerant of cool temperatures but always protect from frost.

    Mother's Day gift

Posted by Mary Ann Miklos on June 20, 2018

This is the second time that my son sent me Sarracenia plants for Mother's Day. My first four plants are thriving and keeping my orchids bug free. This plant is a part of my second group of plants. It is probably the most beautiful both in color and texture. I love receiving a gift that becomes a part of my life ... and plants are perfect in this regards.

The sundews arrived in excellent condition and where I thought I was receiving one plant I discovered there were actually five. It has been a month since they arrived and they are nearly double in size.
