Named for its natural habitat, the cape region of South Africa, Cape sundews grow vigorously and produces large leaves at maturity. Each leaf is covered with sticky gooey dew. When a fly lands on it, the leaf slowly curls around it to get the most out of the insect. Look for tall stalks of purple flowers as the plant matures, and watch them ripen with seed. A cool-tropical species, Drosera capensis likes a very sunny window with mild temperatures. It may slow down significantly during the hottest parts of summer, but watch it take off again when the weather cools down. A great plant for first-time growers!
