Dionaea muscipula Venus Flytrap
A true American classic. Native to the coastal plains of North Carolina, this plant is often a person's first introduction into carnivorous plants. It's a small plant, rarely growing larger than 4 inches in diameter. As a US-native, this plant grows best outdoors in full sun during the growing season. In winter, it shuts down for a short rest. Growth resumes in spring.

Venus Fly Trap
Everything was fine with the plant. I was surprised that it got to the school the next day. I bought it for a student's science project. He is very happy with his new friend! Thank you!

I purchased 2 plants last fall. Both of those plants died. I bought 2 more and they are doing fine. RESPONSE FROM SARRACENIA NORTHWEST: Sorry to hear about your plants not making it through winter. At our nursery in Oregon, we grow them outdoors and plants from that same batch emerged from dormancy. Make sure to follow the winter care protocols outlined in our Volume 1 DVD. You can also follow us on YouTube. We show growers what they need to do throughout the year to properly care for their plants.

Great packing, beautiful plants
Incredible packing job and great plants. A little on the small side, but am certain they'll grow.

Happy little flytrap
So, I got this flytrap in early April and it is very small, but very happy. I figured that it was just coming out of dormancy, but as soon as I set it outside, it's started growing like it's the middle of summer even though Salt Lake City still gets pretty cold in Spring. I thought there was trouble when what looked like a deformed leaf startin swelling, but I now recognize it as flower stalk!

Beautiful Plants
They were small, I thought, (but I'm also used to buying them not right after dormancy in winter, and also from Home Depot-- whereas they're at their prime...for a few days...then that's it). I was pleasantly surprised to see how many there were! They also began growing very fast indeed! I realized the hard way that my location/housing arrangement isn't the optimal setting for these little guys to thrive... so I'll certainly be ordering some more in the future when that all changes. But they got here in a fast manner, they were undamaged in the packaging, and even came with extra care instructions. Overall, incredibly impressive!
