Dionaea muscipula Venus Flytrap

My 5 yo son, who is currently obsessed with carnivorous plants, was so excited to receive this little flytrap in the mail. I was pleased to see that it was a very healthy little plant with lots of traps (one having recently eaten) and several growing. Over the past month, the plant has flourished on our doorstep. We have followed the included instructions and have had a lot of success so far. My son loves to feed it ants and caterpillars he pulls off our vegetable plants. Thank you so much, Sarracenia Northwest, for providing a wonderful resource for buy and learning about these weird and wonderful plants!

The plant arrived crowded with a couple dozen traps. It's a week into May and it's just now starting to open up and get growing.

I love my new Venus fly trap. The instructions pamphlets set me up to take good care of the new plants, as they are my first carnivorous plants. For example, I bought hastily thinking I could keep it in a darkish room to take care of the fruit fly problem. The pamphlet and plant tag made it very clear that Venus fly traps are actually cold hardy perennials that need as much sun as they can get, and can/should stay outside in the sun. Also, I now know to keep the soil boggy at all times. Who knew? And a month later, my plant is so happy and putting up bigger and taller shoots each week.

I recently was trying to figure out how to deal with all of the flies that were buzzing around. I don’t know if I read something or it just popped into my head but it lead me to research carnivorous plants which then lead me to the Sarracencia website. This website was so informative and helpful. I followed all of the instructions and my Venus Flytraps are thriving! They are just so cute and happy. I was so thrilled with my purchase, I ordered a different one which came today. It’s called ‘Ladies in Waiting’. I can’t wait until the pitchers grow. This has become my new favorite hobby. I highly recommend this company.

My little fly trap came perfectly packaged and looked amazing. I've had it for about a month now and it's still doing great! I'm very happy with my purchase.

As always, plant arrived in great condition and packaged well. Within a month or so the flytrap now has a beautiful bloom.

They all did amazing and arrived in good health, and are thriving in the new environment! Very pleased.
