General Description

Drosera venusta is native to the coastal mountains of South Africa. As a mountainous plant, it prefers cool temperatures, especially at night (45°-65°F). Avoid temperatures above 85°F whenever possible.

This species is native to a region that is equivalent to USDA zone 10, so it is tolerant of a brief light frost; however it will die back down to the soil. As long as the roots are protected, it'll grow back when the temperature warms up.
Plants You Receive
Your plant will be shipped potted in a 3-inch pot. Young plants are approximately 1-2 inches in diameter. All plants were propagated on-site from proven mother plants in our collection.

Please watch the monthly video podcast for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year and important growing tips for the season.

5 of 5 Cute little guy July 20, 2020

I wanted a tropical sundew to keep in a south facing window year round where I also grow some herbs. There were some gnats around the plants and I figured the sundew would help. It's been thriving and eating well. The plant was well packaged for shipping and was dewy and colorful from day one. I'm very satisfied.

I received this along with a spat and graom on June 26. It's July 3. It's still looking kind of gray, but it is getting dewy up top. It is growing a new leaf too!  *** RESPONSE BY SARRACENIA NORTHWEST ***  Thank you for your purchase!  I'm not sure what you mean by "looking kind of gray."  You're always welcome to submit a question to one of our growers for assistance.  Look for the Carnivorous Plant Help link towards the bottom of the page.  Make sure to supply all of the requested info, and someone will get back to you shortly.
