Drosera esterhuyseniae is a very close relative to Drosera aliciae, which is also a close relative to Drosera slackii. This hybrid is very vigorous in cultivation. Our mother plants is 3-4 inches in diameter and produces very gorgeous leaves throughout the year.
The parent plants are native to the coastal mountains of South Africa. As with many sundews from this region, this hybrid prefers cool conditions. A hot day is 80°. It also prefers lower light levels than it's cousins whenever the weather heats up. We've got the best growth and color when sheltering this plant from the hot summer sun. Otherwise, this plant can grow well in very bright conditions in winter when home temperatures are much cooler.
