We often dub this plant the "carnivorous cabbage" because of its large, broad and flat leaves that can reach 4-5 inches. Throughout each leaf you'll see tentacles with drops of sticky dew. It often looks like someone misted the leaves with water. A fully grown specimen looks like it should belong in a salad! This species, however, is difficult to grow, even for us. It requires slightly higher humidity than what's found in the average home. It also dislikes very bright sunlight and prefers dappled sun or partial shade. It also doesn't like very hot conditions. It grows best in mild temperatures year round. Frankly, it's the Goldilocks of sundews. Drosera schizandra is best reserved for the experienced grower who is up for the challenge.

    A bit temperamental

Arrived in excellent shape, but doesn't look quite as good now. Keeping humidity high, but not saturating completely is the trick. In a sealed unit, the fungus can erupt, but by opening it once a day to let excess humidity escape helps; new leaves keep coming, so I must be doing something right.
