Sarracenia alata Dark

(6 reviews) Write a Review
This colorful variety fo the common Sarracenia alata is much sought after among collectors and has been used to produce prestigious hybrids for ornamental horticulture. This plant grows best where the sun is bright, the nights are hot, and the growing season is long. That's when you'll get to see the black coloration extending down the trap to the lower portions before fading to red or green. Traps may randomly maintain their lime-green lip, contrasting fantastically with the dark tones of the rest of pitcher. The largest pitchers occur in late summer. These are bigger and more robust than those grown in spring and express a prominent throat bulge, a common trait for this species. On a fully mature plant, pitchers are typically 16-18 inches tall.

Came packaged exceptionally well. Beautiful plant. Looking forward to it growing up. Put it out side to let it go dormant. Spring is going to be fun this year.
