Pinguicula sp. Alfred Lau #13

(32 reviews) Write a Review
Alfred Lau was a botanist who researched and discovered many Mexican butterworts in the wild. This particular plant was one that he discovered in the wild and remains unidentified. It potentially is a form of Pinguicula gigantea or a natural hybrid with it. It has large, broad, slightly wavy leaves at full size, and grows very quickly. It seems to grow well without a dry winter rest if the soil is moist and the lighting is bright throughout the year. When fully mature, the plant can span 8 inches across.

This one has been growing well, has flowered several times, and is a nice slightly smaller ping compared to a few others.

    Arrived Almost Dead

Posted by Lily on March 10, 2020

My butterwort arrived almost totally dead. The roots had pulled out of the container during shipping, and the heating pack that was included had basically completely cooked half of the leaves. I was pretty bummed out, but one of the leaves was still super healthy looking, so I tucked the roots back in, and started watering/taking care of it as normal. To my delight, it has put out a new rosette, and is bouncing back. I would recommend ordering during a time of year when your plant won't need to be shipped with a heating pack. ***RESPONSE BY SARRACENIA NORTHWEST *** I'm sorry how the plant arrived! We expect it to arrive as if you came to the nursery and picked it up yourself. Obviously, we goofed in our packaging. I checked my records and didn't see any messages from you regarding your plant. We highly recommend contacting us immediately if you are at all concerned about the health of your plant upon arrival. All plants are covered by a 30-day guarantee, and we replace any plants that have suffered during transit. This information is covered in the literature that was included in your package. You can also read more about the guarantee using the link at the bottom of the page.

My P sp. Alfred Lau arrived in perfect condition and is doing great! It was a good size for a rarer ping (about two inches in diameter). Thanks, SNW!
