King Henry is a new cultivar. It's produces upright yellow traps. The mouths of the traps have a splash of reddish orange. It grows very vigorously and sends up multiple traps at once. We've had this variety in our collection for only a year. We've noticed that the plant produces larger than normal traps when it matures, up to 1 1/2 inches. Because of the long petioles, the leaves flop over due to the weight of the large traps. This is probably why it was called King Henry!

Natural Habitat:Coastal plains of North Carolina, USA
Type of Plant:Cold hardy perennial for outdoor growing.
Size of Adult Plants:
Can grow to 5 inches across with 1.5-inch traps.

Click on the "Plants You Receive" tab for more information about this season's inventory. (The tab is shown on the full website version only.)
Grows quickly and develops large traps as it matures.

Available plants are mature specimens that have been in our collection for two seasons. It will be shipped in a 4-inch pot and is expected to have its characteristic large adult traps throughout the growing season.

We grow all cold hardy plants outdoors at our nursery in Oregon. This means your plant will be acclimated for outdoor growing throughout the year. They will experience heat and sun in summer and frost and snow in winter.

Make sure to watch this month's video podcast for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year and important growing tips for the season.

Beautiful. I know it's sleeping right now but I can't wait for it wake up in the spring. It arrived safely, very well packaged. Excellent communication with Sarracenia NW. They let me know when it was packaged, shipped and that it had arrived. Thank you.

    These are Really the King

The traps are so large, you may not keep a finger if you keep tripping the traps. Traps better than a inch long and when it catches a insect... it seems to explode when it shuts down on its prey. If you have to have a Fly trap.....then this is The One.

    vigorous grower

Posted by Alan Cartagena on June 15, 2014

By far my most favorite cultivator. The traps are indeed big the plant itself is tall and is a vigorous grower. I bought a huge order of them last year and a small order them this year and all never disappointed me. They grow fantastically and are my fastest growing flytraps. You'll not be disappointed with this plant.
