General Description

The classic form of the yellow trumpet is definitely a handsome plant. Multitudes of upright traps spring up from dense growth points in clusters, with canopies of broad, flat lids like so many lily pads raised up inn the air - the perfect landing spot for flies and other nasty bugs. The particular plants we grow originated in Jeff's collection decades ago, and we're happy to bring them to you now - a real classic for any collector.

In spring, the yellow trumpet is usually among the first to bloom. Buds form soon after the winter snow melts. Look for yellow flowers in mid spring.
Plants You Receive
Plants are shipped in 4-inch pots with proper growing media. Each plant is a division from select mother plants in our collection. Pitchers are expected to reach 12 inches during their first season after division.

All cold hardy plants are grown outdoors at our nursery in Oregon and experience the changes of the seasons. Care instructions are provided.

Please watch the monthly video for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year and important growing tips for the season.

Plant looks good.  Just coming out of dormancy.  Looks like new traps will be a good size.

Small Dormant Plant December 30, 2018
Reviewer: Keith Coleman from Topeka, KS United States
I ordered late in the season and received a plant that was dormant except for a couple of small pitchers.  That it arrived basically dormant was good and was what I was expecting.  (All my other Sarracenia were in various states of dormancy.)  The rhizome is sort of small, but it shows potential.  A very small pitcher on the plant is particularly colorful for a S. flava.
