Deroose Alata are often a person's first step into the wonderfully addictive world of Nepenthes. I sometimes tell customers that if they kill this plant, they should look for a new hobby.
Pitchers are durable and beautifully pink-red. On larger plants, pitchers can get over 7 inches tall. Vines that Deroose Alata grows in full sun can eventually become a beautiful display for any windowsill - draping, climbing, and cascading vines of lovely, lance-shaped foliage with a prominent red midrib and tendril, festooned with pitchers. The speed at which it grows and the size it can get makes this one of the most rewarding carnivorous plants to grow.
Many garden centers mistakenly label this plant as Nepenthes alata. However, it's not a true species. It is in fact a hybrid with Nepenthes ventricosa.
