Kokedama is a Japanese horticultural technique of growing a plant with its roots wrapped in a ball of moss. This growing technique offers a unique display for any plant. But, when you apply this technique to a Nepenthes, the result is extraordinary!

This particular kokedama comes with Nepenthes sanguinea. It can be either hung on a chain (included) or set on a saucer (included). Either method of displaying your plant is acceptable.

Caring for your plant is very easy. Make sure that your plant is getting several hours of direct sunlight (and bright indirect sunlight during the rest of the day). A south window is an excellent choice for this plant.

How you water your plant depends on the method in which you're displaying your kokedama.
• If your plant is resting in a saucer or decorative dish, you can let your plant sit in small amounts of water (no more than 1/2 inch).
• If your plant is hanging, you may need to take your plant to a sink and allow the moss to soak in some water for a few minutes. Drain the moss before hanging your plant.
• If your plant is in a greenhouse, simply water your plant and allow the water to drain through.

Nepenthes sanguinea is an excellent plant for the first-time grower, and is easily one of the most colorful Nepenthes available. Traps are splotched in a fantastic assortment of oranges, yellows, and reds, with only a little bit of green. It can remain compact for many years, which makes it a great candidate for any sunny windowsill. Large, established plants can be quite impressive, with older plants growing traps 9 inches tall! With good lighting, its firm waxy leaves will develop an attractive reddish-bronze hue.

Plants You Receive
Your plant will be shipped in an established kokedama (chain and saucer are provided). Pitchers are typically 1-2 inches, but as the plant matures, it will grow pitchers up to 6 inches within the first year of growth. The plant can remain in the kokedama for up to two years.

Please watch the monthly videos for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year and important growing tips for the season.
