This hybrid is regarded as an epiphytic bladderwort, so it's grown in a very airy mix of sphagnum moss and perlite. As with all bladderworts, the carnivorous activity occurs beneath the soil surface. Little bladder-like structures along the plant's roots capture teeny-tiny soil critters, such as nematodes.  Bladderworts, however, are mostly grown for their flowers.  Every winter, we allow the medium to dry slightly to mimic the dry season during the winter months in its native habitat in Brazil. This triggers the plant to produce gorgeous orchid-like flowers.
