'Leah Wilkerson' was first introduced as a cultivar in 2005 when it was registered with the International Carnivorous Plant Society by Brooke Garcia. The original plant was discovered in a bog on private property in Florida and was identified as a natural hybrid, Sarracenia flava x leucophylla. A small group of explorers had permission from the landowner, Leah Wilkerson, to extract a clump. They then named the plant in her honor. This hybrid is quite magnificent and stately. It has tall pitchers with dark red veins running through the hood. The opening of the pitcher is beautifully marked with a splash of dark red. Moreover, this plant is a vigorous grower and forms a large clump that can be easily divided.
Type of Plant: Outdoor perennial for container growing.
Height: 24-30 inches.
Sunlight: Full sun during the growing season.
Water: Low-mineral water (50 ppm or less).
Soil: Equal parts peat moss and perlite only.
Winter: Dormant. Minimal protection in USDA zones 7-9. Mulch in colder regions.

Plants are grown outdoors at our nursery in Oregon and experience seasonal changes.
• January-March: Plant is dormant with no pitchers.
• April: Spring growth will appear by the end of the month.
• May: Fully developed pitchers will start to appear.
• June: Full display of pitchers. This plant will look its best!
• July-August: Plant will slow down when it’s hot. Some minor spotting.
• September-October: Dormancy begins. Fewer pitchers. No new growth until spring.
• November-December: Plant is dormant. Browned pitchers are cut off.

Amazing! Very happy with my new Leah
I got my Leah in flawlessly and a day early at that! It started producing pitchers quick and is about to pop a foot tall pitcher as I type this. I really appreciate SNW sending out quality plants and not dinky seedlings.

It came packed very well. Good sized division. The pitcher it was growing when I received it was deformed. The lid and lip never fully opened properly.
