This species is native to the coastal mountains of South Africa. It's a rosetted sundew with elongated flat leaves. As a mountainous plant, it prefers cool temperatures, especially at night (45° - 65°F). It's a hot day for the plant when temperatures reach 85°F.

D. slackii is also rare in cultivation because of its slow growth habit and fondness for bright, yet cool, conditions.

Plants You Receive
Your plant will be shipped potted in a 3-inch pot. Young plants are approximately 1-2 inches in diameter. All plants were propagated on-site from proven mother plants in our collection.

Please watch the monthly video podcast for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year and important growing tips for the season.

what arrived was a cross with slackii

The plant is superb though and in one months time has produced five new leaves. I kept it outside for a couple of days to recover from being mailed and it captured a dozen small insects.

    Impressed!

Posted by Matthew Fujita on April 27, 2019

I am continually impressed with the care in the packaging. Also, I always expect small plants when buying from online vendors but every plant from Sarracenia Northwest has been impressive. My slackii is no exception - I was surprised how large it was!

This plant really likes the shade of the taller plants in our hot Texas sun. It is doing well here though. Just took it a bit to get started.

My plant already has new leaves. The soil looks great, for poor non nutritional soil. Packaging was perfect.
