The Scarlet Belle hybrid is a cultivated variety of a simple hybrid made with the white top pitcher (Sarracenia leucophylla) and the parrot pitcher (Sarracenia psittacina). It develops beautiful red pitchers speckled with white spots. Whenever we bring this plant to the farmers' market, folks usually exclaim, "They look like they're from outer space!" If you want a really unusual plant for your garden, give this one a try. Look for it's best pitchers of the season in late summer and early fall.

Type of Plant:
Sarracenia hybrid. Cold hardy perennial for outdoor growing.
Size of Adult Plants:

6 inches tall.

Stout pitchers with delicate patterns.
Small Sarracenia rhizomes are shipped in 3-inch pots. All older leaves from the previous season has been cut off.

We grow all cold hardy plants outdoors at our nursery in Oregon. This means your plant will be acclimated for outdoor growing throughout the year. They will experience heat and sun in summer and frost and snow in winter.

Make sure to watch this month's video podcast for examples of how your plant may look at this time of the year and important growing tips for the season.

    Favorite pitchers!

Posted by Katherine on July 18, 2014

This is my most aesthetically favorite American pitcher plant in my little collection! I love the white polka-dots on the red parrot-looking pitchers. It will be exciting to see how they will look like when they're mature!
