Mark Edwards of New Zealand created this hybrid and named it after his daughter, Daina. However, somewhere along the registration process the name was misspelled, and the official name of the plant ended up as “Dana’s Delight”. We certainly respect Mark's work in creating this crowd-pleasing hybrid, so we will use the correct spelling of his daughter's name.

This hybrid has often been called the red white-top pitcher (Sarracenia leucophylla). It's tall slender pitchers resembles Sarracenia leucophylla, except it has much thicker veins in the upper portion of the pitcher. In spring, the early pitchers are green at the bottom and red at the top with white speckles. By early fall, the entire pitcher turns deep red, just in time for the winter holidays!

I am well satisfied with Daina`s Delight as I am with all my carnivores. I am a plant lover and have quite a variety, but these are all new to me. My son bought them for me for Christmas.
