Looking for something unusual and exotic? This Indonesian species has pitchers shaped like a toilet! The plant has been affectionately named jamban, which means toilet in Indonesian. Pitchers are typically no more than 4 inches tall and range from reddish orange to green. Lower pitchers are stout and richly colored, while upper pitchers are typically bowl-shaped and slightly paler. The plant produces long rambling vines, and many growers have been successful growing this plant like a houseplant. However, the plant appreciates mild days (upper 70s) and cool nights (upper 50s to the low 60s). You'll see it produce more pitchers in fall and winter than in summer. Give this plant bright filtered sunlight.
